Born in Mississippi as Riley B King to sharecropper parents. As a young man he moved to Memphis where he worked at WDIA doing short music spots until eventually becoming a DJ and is where he got the name BB King. He was well known for his guitar playing style and vocals as an early electric guitar innovator.
