Champion Jack Dupree
William Thomas Dupree, received his name Champion Jack after a successful boxing career. He shaped what was known as jump blues, and was an influence on New Orleans musician Professor Longhair. He wrote “Junker Blues” which later was recreated by Fats Domino to become the hit “Fat Man”. He eventually moved to Europe when the R&B and rock sound was being shaped, and played with bands such as the Beatles, and Eric Clapton as they were shaping their sound.
